Clinical Research in Complementary Therapies Principles, Problems and Solutions
Editors: George Lewith, Wayne B Jonas, Harald Walach
Foreword by: HRH The Prince of Wales
This is a well-edited book on Complementary Therapies (CT). If you think the book will provide with the answers as to which CT is scientifically proven to be effective for a particular condition than you will be disappointed. In fact quite the opposite is true it raises far more questions than answers. However, it does provide you with a clear picture as to the weakness and the strengths in conducting research in CT.
The book, which is edited by three very respected researchers, is further subdivided into two sections. Each section contains a collection of papers written in a multi-author format.
The first section discusses and analyses current research methods and its relationship to CT. It raises many practical questions, for example how to assess the effect of placebo in CT, or how to select patients for clinical trials. The second section continuous the issues of the first but applies it to specific treatment modalities such as Herbal Medicine, Homeopathy, Manual Therapies, Acupuncture etc.
This book will appeal to both researchers and practitioners with interests in CT.
