Goodman & Gillman’s The Pharmacological Basis of Therapeutics

Editors: Joel Hardman and Lee Limbird

This is a scholarly production, which offers encyclopaedic coverage of the subject and is almost certainly far too detailed for the average doctor. However this does not mean that the book is of no use. Far from it, it is an awesome, yet interesting reference work, which gives fantastic coverage of its subject within just over 2000 pages. There are some excellent historical perspectives which makes the reading far more absorbing. This book is a must have in a major hospital or reference library and for those doctors who want to delve deep into the background of the drugs they are prescribing. Most GPs will find the amount and depth of material too great for their day to day practice. Though enthusiasts, interested academics and those studying for advanced courses will find this text a must have. Equally a doctor who wants to access to the best data concerning clinical pharmacology will also covet this book. Without doubt this is a best of breed book.
